Lutz adds ‘floor stretcher’ Grbovic to transfer haul
May 13, 2026 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER — Oklahoma State has officially signed Arizona State transfer Andrija Grbovic, a 6-foot-11 forward from Pljevlja, Montenegro, head coach Steve Lutz announced Wednesday.
A proven floor spacer who turns 23 years old in September, Grbovic appeared in 33 games with 27 starts for the Sun Devils during the 2025-26 season, averaging 6.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in 19.8 minutes per game. He knocked down 43 three-pointers on 35% accuracy and scored in double figures eight times.
In Stillwater, Grbovic will reunite with his longtime club and national team cohort, Luka Bogavac, who is transferring from North Carolina to OSU. The pair played together during the 2024-25 Adriatic League season with SC Derby. They also teamed up to win the 2022 Junior Adriatic League title as well as a bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA U20 EuroBasket.
"Andrija gives us another skilled frontcourt player who can stretch the floor and play with pace," Lutz said. "He has played at a high level internationally, understands spacing and ball movement, and has the size and shooting touch to create matchup problems. His experience and familiarity with the Big 12 should help him transition quickly into what we want to do."
Grbovic's top performances at Arizona State included 14 points against No. 7 Houston on Jan. 18 and 14 more in the Sun Devils' Big 12 Championship opening-round win over Baylor on Mar. 10, when he made 6-of-7 shots, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. He also scored 11 points against Oklahoma State during a Feb. 10 meeting in Tempe and hit 3-of-4 from deep in an 86-70 win over Oklahoma at the Jerry Colangelo Classic.
Grbovic began competing against professionals at the age of 15, starting with a three-year stint in Germany with the Ratiopharm Ulm youth system. From 2021 to 2023, he competed for Serbian-based clubs OKK Beograd and Mega Basket before returning home to Montenegro for a two-year run with SC Derby.
During the 2024-25 season with SC Derby, Grbovic averaged 7.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in Adriatic League play while shooting 45.9% from 3-point range and 82.4% at the free throw line.
In 2022, Grbovic was named MVP of the Junior Adriatic League after averaging 22.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while leading OKK Beograd to the championship.
Grbovic has also been a fixture in Montenegro's national team program. He suited up for the senior national team in European Qualifiers ahead of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and has represented his home country at multiple youth levels.
At the 2022 FIBA U20 EuroBasket, Grbovic helped Montenegro to a bronze medal while averaging 12.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He also competed in the 2018 and 2019 FIBA U16 European Championships, leading Montenegro to a fourth-place division finish in 2019 while averaging 15.6 points and 7.4 rebounds.
Grbovic is one of five transfers who have signed with Oklahoma State this spring, joining Luka Bogavac (North Carolina), Kashie Natt (Sam Houston), Jacob Walker (Sam Houston) and Julius Halaifonua (Georgetown).
