Forrest Wins World Team Trials; Punches Ticket to Final X
May 15, 2026 | Cowboy Wrestling
Louisville, Ky. – Oklahoma State wrestling star Jax Forrest continued his sensational 2026 campaign with a World Team Trials Championship on Friday afternoon to clinch his spot at June's Final X.
The NCAA champion took on a loaded field at the 61 kg weight class. After earning a bye through to the quarters, Thursday's semifinals saw Forrest take on Viriginia Tech's Aaron Seidel. In a back-and-forth matchup, Forrest took down Seidel with a 9-4 decision to send him to Friday's championship match with a familiar opponent.
The final featured Forrest taking on Ben Davino for the third time in the past three months. Forrest took the NCAA title against him back in March, while Davino got it done at the U.S. Open in April. In the latest meeting, Forrest got out to a fast start and never looked back to earn the title with an 11-1 tech fall in 5:20.
With the win, Forrest will take on Marcus Blaze on June 19 at Final X in Newark, New Jersey. A win at Final X would send Forrest to the World Championships where he would represent the USA and Oklahoma State on the international stage for a second straight year. Cowboy RTC now has three representatives at Final X, with Forrest joining Zahid Valencia and former Cowboy and fellow NCAA Champion Wyatt Hendrickson.
Landon Robideau wrapped up his run in Louisville with a 70 kg bronze medal victory over Jordan Williams, 7-0. He defeated Williams twice this weekend, with the first coming in their quarterfinal matchup.
Cam Amine, an OSU All-American in 2025, wrestled in the 74 kg bracket but bowed out in two matches.
