May 22, 2026 | Cowgirl Softball
LINCOLN, Neb. – The No. 13 national seed Oklahoma State softball team dropped its NCAA Super Regional opener against the 4th-seeded Nebraska Cornhuskers, 8-1, Friday afternoon at Bowlin Stadium.
The loss drops the Cowgirls to 41-16, while the Cornhuskers improve to 50-6 on the year.
The contest was originally scheduled for last night but was suspended due to severe weather in the area. The game officially resumed after nearly 20 hours in a delay, with a runner on first for Nebraska in a 1-0 count, with Hannah Camenzind up to bat. Camenzind singled, and a batter later, Nebraska's Jesse Farrell brought everyone home with a three-run shot to give the Cornhuskers a lead they would not relinquish.
Nebraska added four runs in the third to extend its lead to seven following a 2-RBI single from Farrell and a pair of RBI groundouts.
OSU's lone run came in the sixth after a solo shot from Karli Godwin, which was her 10th homer of the season.
Ruby Meylan started in the circle for OSU and fell to 29-8 on the year after she got tagged with seven earned runs in 2.0 innings of work. RyLee Crandall, Makala Smith and Preslee Downing combined to toss 4.0 IP with one earned run and four hits. Smith's appearance marked the first of her collegiate career after spending the season recovering from injury.
Nebraska's Jordy Frahm, a top three finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year award, improved to 20-4 on the year in a complete game effort with seven strikeouts.
Game two of the Lincoln Super Regional is set for 4 p.m. CT tomorrow at Bowlin Stadium, and will be televised nationally on ESPN, with Chuckie Kempf and Jenny Dalton-Hill on the call. The game can also be heard on KGFY 105.5 FM and the Varsity Network app with Ryan Breeden on the call.
