Mestemaker wins Walter Camp FBS Offensive Player of the Week

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State football's Drew Mestemaker was named to multiple national awards on Tuesday morning, including the Walter Camp FBS Player of the Week, Davey O'Brien National QB of the Week and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award for Player of the Week.

Mestemaker is the first Cowboy to win the Walter Camp FBS Player of the Week since Alan Bowman in September of 2024 and the first Cowboy to win the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award for Player of the Week since Spencer Sanders in 2022.

The slew of awards comes at the helm of the historic victory over No. 6 Oregon on Saturday afternoon. Mestemaker, in just his second game as a Cowboy, put on a show, netting 426 total yards of offense. That totaled the highest offensive output against an AP-top-10 team since Sep. 28, 2024, when Georgia's Carson Beck and Alabama's Jalen Milroe did it against each other.

Mestemaker also eclipsed 300 passing yards for the first time in his Cowboy career. The Austin native kept his streak of 200-yard passing games alive, bringing the total to 17 straight games, the longest active streak in the FBS. Seven of Mestemaker's 26 completions were over 15 yards, with the longest being a 52-yard bomb to Wyatt Young for a touchdown.

The redshirt sophomore also racked up 109 rushing yards en route to the victory. He's the first quarterback to eclipse the century mark on the ground against Oregon since 2016. It also marks the most rushing yards by a Cowboy quarterback since the 2022 Fiesta Bowl, when Spencer Sanders gained 125 yards via the rush.

On OSU's first offensive play of the game, Mestemaker sprinted down the sideline for a 75-yard run, marking the longest run by a Power Four quarterback this season. He also rattled off a 10-yard touchdown run that ended in a hurdle over an Oregon defender, giving the Cowboys a lead they wouldn't surrender.

In addition to his awards from today, Mestemaker was also named a Manning Award Star of the Week, Davey O'Brien Award Great 8 recipient, and Burlsworth Trophy Walk-on of the Week winner.

Mestemaker and the Cowboys return to action next week against Murray State at Boone Pickens Stadium.
