MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A dominating second-half performance lifted the Oklahoma State football team to a 41-24 win at West Virginia at Milan Puskar Stadium Saturday.

The win snapped an 18-game Big 12 losing streak for OSU that dated back to November 25, 2023 and was the sixth straight for the Cowboys over WVU in Morgantown.

Thanks to a strong rushing attack, the Mountaineers (3-1 overall; 0-1 Big 12) got out to a 14-3 lead early in the second quarter, but OSU (3-1 overall; 1-0 Big 12) closed the first half on a 10-0 run to bring the halftime score to 14-13 in favor of WVU. The second half belonged to the Cowboys, who outscored West Virginia, 28-10, after the break.

Drew Mestemaker completed 20-of-27 passes for 389 yards and three touchdowns in the game, and was particularly dominant in the second half, completing 11-of-14 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns after halftime. He completed 7-of-8 passes for 225 yards in the third quarter alone.

The Oklahoma State defense produced three turnovers on downs and a punt on West Virginia's final four drives of the game.

Big plays factored heavily into the result, with Oklahoma State racking up 12 offensive plays of 20 yards or longer (two rushing and 10 passing). West Virginia had five (two rushing and three passing).

Seven of Oklahoma State's 20+-yard plays came in the second half, with four of those seven big plays being 40+-yard passing plays.

Oklahoma State was effective through the passing game (389 yards) and the run game (220 yards), while West Virginia was more one-dimensional with 334 rushing yards and 132 passing yards.

Oklahoma State sacked West Virginia quarterback Michael Hawkins four times. Entering the game, WVU ranked No. 11 nationally in fewest sacks allowed.

Drew Mestemaker, Caleb Hawkins and Wyatt Young continue to perform as one of the nation's most explosive offensive trios, with Mestemaker passing for 389 yards, Hawkins rushing for 180 yards and Young piling up 192 receiving yards. It marked the second time this season that trio went 300-100-100, with the first coming against Oregon in week two.

Cowboy linebacker Ethan Wesloski finished with a season-high 17 tackles. By halftime, he had 11, which was the most for a Cowboy in a game this season. Other OSU defensive standouts included Tate Romney (12 tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss), Quinton Hammonds (12 tackles) and Mose Phillips III (11 tackles and an interception).

Saturday's performance marked the first time that Oklahoma State eclipsed 40 points in a Big 12 road game since beating Houston, 43-30, in 2023.

Oklahoma State finished with 609 yards of total offense – the most for OSU against a Big 12 opponent since going for 682 yards against TCU in 2021. It was the most for OSU in a Big 12 road game since 2018, when the Cowboys piled up 640 yards of offense against Oklahoma in Norman. It marked the third consecutive game the Cowboys exceeded 500 yards of total offense. The last time OSU had 500+ yards of total offense in three consecutive games was the first three games of the 2019 season. For perspective, Oklahoma State had no games of 500+ yards in 2025 and only two in 2024.

Following a bye week, the Cowboys return to action when they host UCF on October 10 in Boone Pickens Stadium.
