Cowboys Fall to Sooners in Norman

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team fell to No. 17 Oklahoma, 6-1, Friday night at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
The No. 27 Cowboys narrowly lost the doubles point, as the pair of Emile Hudd and Matej Vocel fell in a tiebreak, 7-6 (8-6), to Jake Van Emburgh and Ferran Calvo, which clinched the doubles point for the Sooners.
Prior to that, Luke Hammond and Artur Dubinski defeated Jochen Bertsch and Stefano Tsorotiotis, 6-3, and the pair of Alex Bakshi/Spencer Papa bested No. 37 Mathieu Scaglia and Maxim Tybar, 7-5.
In singles, Dubinski retired after dropping the first set, 6-0 against Calvo, putting the Sooners up, 2-0.
No. 54 Papa followed with a 6-4, 6-1, victory over No. 68 Vocel on court one, and No. 88 Van Emburgh bested Tybar, 6-4, 6-2, to clinch the match.
Singles were played out, and Mason Beiler defeated Scaglia, 6-3, 6-4, on court four, while Tsorotiotis beat Hammond, 6-1, 7-6 (8-6).
The Cowboys' lone victory of the night came from Hudd, as the freshman defeated Bertsch, 7-5, 6-3, on court six.
Oklahoma's win marks its 11th straight victory in the series against the Cowboys.
The Pokes (13-7, 0-1 Big 12) are back in action next Friday as they will travel to Lubbock to face the No. 29 Texas Tech Red Raiders.
