December 15, 2024 | Cowgirl Basketball
Game Notes
RV/NR Oklahoma State Cowgirls
(9-1, 0-0 Big 12) • Head Coach: Jacie Hoyt (Eighth Year — 125-94)
vs.
McNeese Cowgirls
What 2 Watch 4
• Oklahoma State's women's basketball team will wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule on Monday at 6:30 p.m. when McNeese pays a visit to Stillwater.
• OSU is 32-8 at home under head coach Jacie Hoyt.
• Hoyt and her husband, Daniel, welcomed their first child on Dec. 11, Harlow Renee Heflin.
• The Cowgirls have hit the century mark twice on the scoreboard. OSU has never done so three times in a year.
• Stailee Heard leads the nation in 3-point field-goal percentage at 56.8 percent.
• Heard was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Dec. 9 following her 29- and 32-point outings against Houston Christian and Alabama State, respectively.
• The Cowgirls currently stand at No. 27 in the NET ranking.
• Ténin Magassa is 13th among current active leaders with her 1.99 blocks per game and 12th with her 205 blocks.
• OSU has already produced a quartet of 30-point scorers on the season. Macey Huard scored a career-high 31 points in the season opener against UAPB and Anna Gret Asi poured in a career-high 33 points in OSU's win over Texas Southern. Micah Gray joined the list with her 36-point outburst against Chicago State. Stailee Heard added a career-best 32 points against Alabama State.
• Gray's output marked the most by a Cowgirl since Andrea Riley's 37-point outing against Kansas in 2010.
• With Gray reaching the plateau, it marks the first time in program history OSU has had three different 30-point scorers in the same season.
• The Cowgirls shot better than 50 percent in the first three quarters against Alabama State and have now hit at least half of their shots in 26 of 40 quarters this season.
Series History
• OSU won the only previous meeting between the two programs, an 89-56 triumph on Nov. 18, 2008 in Stillwater.
Last Time Out
• OSU surpassed the century mark for the fourth time under the direction of Jacie Hoyt with its 125-49 win over Alabama State on Dec. 6.
• The Cowgirls shattered the school marks for points (125), points in a half (69), points in a quarter (36), margin of victory (76), assists (34) and 3-pointers (20)
• Stailee Heard knocked down her 13th consecutive trey dating back to OSU's game against Richmond to start to start the third quarter before recording her first miss of the contest. Her run would come up one shy of matching the NCAA mark for consecutive made 3-pointers.
• Heard finished with a career-high 32 points and 10 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double and fourth of the season.
Know The Foe
• McNeese is looking for its first win on the road (0-3) this season.
• The Cowgirls were picked to finish 11th in the Southland Conference preseason poll.
• The contest will be the first for McNeese since an 81-54 los at Longwood on Dec. 8.
• The Cowgirls return three starters from a year ago.
