Cowgirl Tennis Set for Pair of Road Tests

No. 13 Oklahoma State will travel north to take on No. 6 Michigan on Friday at 4 p.m. CT and No. 17 Ohio State on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT. The matches continue a stretch for the Cowgirls in which they are facing six ranked opponents in eight matches, with OSU still looking for its first ranked win this season.

Oklahoma State checked in at No. 13 in last week's ITA team rankings, marking its 21st consecutive week in the top 15, dating back to the start of last season. Four Cowgirls remained in the individual rankings, with Gracie Epps coming in at No. 40 in singles, while Anastasiya Komar slotted at No. 65 and Marcela Lopez at No. 69. In doubles, Epps and Lopez appeared at No. 41 while Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp came it at No. 86.
The Matchup
Oklahoma State is 3-2 all time against Michigan, with four of the five meetings coming in the previous two seasons. The Cowgirls won the first-ever matchup in 1984 on a neutral court, and the programs would not meet again until 2023, when Michigan got two wins. OSU responded last season with two wins of its own, with the first coming in its season opener and the other in the final of the ITA Indoor National Championships. Sixteen of OSU's 29 wins came against opponents ranked in the top 30, including seven against teams in the top 10 at the time of the match, marking another program record. Individually, the Cowgirls boasted three All-America selections, the Big 12 Player of the Year (Ange Oby Kajuru), Big 12 Newcomer of the Year (Anastasiya Komar), Big 12 Coach of the Year (Chris Young) and nine All-Big 12 selections.
