Cowboys Second at Olympia Fields

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play on Friday with an even-par 280 at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational to stand alone in second place at Olympia Fields Country Club.

The Cowboys finished the day a stroke off the pace of Texas Tech at the par-70, 7,353-yard layout.

Texas Tech's Adam Bresnu posted an opening 3-under 67 to lead the individual race.

Juniors Preston Stout and Gaven Lane each carded rounds of 69 to share sixth place with six other players.

Stout posted eight pars on his opening nine to go with a double bogey. He would move back to even par with birdies at the 10^th and 14^th holes before carding an eagle at the 15^th on his way to a 3-under 32 on his inward nine.

Lane would bogey the second before running off seven pars in a row to close his front nine. He would birdie the 10^th and 11^th to move under par for the day and reeled off another seven pars in a row to finish the round.

Juniors Ethan Fang and Eric Lee each posted 1-over 71s to finish among the players tied for 21^st place.

Senior John Wild signed for a 76 and ended the day tied for 68^th place.
