STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's basketball's Liv McGill has been named to the 20-player Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced today.
The Nancy Lieberman Award, one of five Naismith Starting Five awards, recognizes the nation's top point guard in women's college basketball. The award is in its 28th year and honors the Hall of Fame point guard from Old Dominion.
The 5-foot-9 junior guard from Minneapolis made the 10-player watch list last season at Florida, where she finished as the only player in the country to average 20 points (22.5), six assists (6.3), and six rebounds (6.1) per game. McGill also collected AP and USBWA Honorable Mention All-America and first-team All-SEC honors last year before joining the Cowgirls this offseason as a consensus top-five transfer portal prospect.
The Big 12 Conference Preseason Player of the Year enters the 2026-27 season ranked third among active NCAA DI players in career assist average (5.7).
Should McGill go on to win the award, she'd become the second Cowgirl in program history to do so. Cowgirl Basketball legend Andrea Riley earned the prestigious honor in 2010 after averaging 26.7 points per game during the 2009-10 season, the second-most in the nation.
The 20-player watch list will be trimmed to 10 in February, then to five in March. In late March, Lieberman and the Hall of Fame selection committees will review the five finalists and select the winners. Fans are encouraged to participate in fan voting in each of the three rounds starting on Friday, October 31.
McGill and the rest of the Cowgirls begin their season with an exhibition contest at 6:30 p.m. CT tomorrow, Oct. 27, against Langston in Gallagher-Iba Arena before opening the regular season against Southern at 5 p.m. on Nov. 2 in GIA.
Single-game and season tickets can be purchased at okstate.com/tickets or by calling 877-ALL-4OSU.
