STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's basketball is the consensus preseason favorite to win the Big 12 Conference following the announcement of the league's media poll today.
The nod from league and national media follows the Cowgirls' first-ever No. 1 ranking in the Big 12 Preseason Coaches' Poll, alongside Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year Audi Crooks and Preseason Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Liv McGill. OSU edged TCU for the top spot in the poll, while Baylor, West Virginia and Arizona State rounded out the top five.
Under head coach Jacie Hoyt, the Cowgirls have finished in the top four of the final Big 12 standings in three of her four years. The Pokes are coming off a 24-10 campaign in 2025-26 that saw OSU reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2020-21.
In addition to the Big 12 polls, OSU ranks No. 19 and No. 22 in the WBCA Coaches' Poll and the Associated Press preseason poll, respectively. The Cowgirls have been ranked in back-to-back AP preseason polls for the first time since 2014-15 and 2015-16.
The Cowgirls open the 2026-27 season with a three-game homestand, first against Southern at 5 p.m. on Nov. 2 in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
