STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wrestling ranked No. 2 in the NWCA Division I Coaches Poll, the first regular-season rankings of the year, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Cowboys won the team title at the inaugural Cowboy Invitational, winning 53 of 64 bouts against non-OSU opponents and crowning nine champions. Oklahoma State is the highest-ranked Big 12 team, seven spots ahead of No. 9 Iowa State.
Head coach David Taylor and the Cowboys are coming off an impressive 2025-26 campaign in which OSU took home three individual NCAA titles and a second-place team finish at the NCAA Championships. All eight of last season's All-Americans return to the roster, as well as Dreshaun Ross, Jordyn Raney, Jayden Raney and a multitude of other freshman who are part of the No. 1-ranked recruiting class of 2026.
Jax Forrest (133 pounds) and Landon Robideau (157 pounds) are ranked No. 1 at their weights in InterMat's individual rankings after winning NCAA titles last season. Sergio Vega, last season's national champion at 141, is No. 2 after moving up to 149 pounds and still hasn't been taken down in his collegiate career.
Cody Merrill joins Vega at No. 2, at 197 pounds, after finishing as NCAA runner-up in his first season as the Cowboys' starter.
True freshman Jayden Raney enters the rankings at No. 15 at 141 pounds after winning his weight at the Cowboy Invitational last weekend. Casey Swiderski also enters the rankings at No. 5 at 165 after winning the title at that weight.
Senior Troy Spratley, a two-time All-American, opens the season at No. 7 at 125 pounds, while fellow senior Alex Facundo, in his second season with the Cowboys, slots in at No. 12 for 174 pounds. South Dakota State transfer Bennett Berge is No. 10 at 184, while Konner Doucet ranks No. 1 at heavyweight.
