CLEARWATER, FLA. - A three-run home run from Gabriella Shadek in the bottom of the sixth inning pushed the No. 22/19 Duke softball team to a 9-6 win over Oklahoma State Sunday in the Cowgirls' final game of the Clearwater Invitational.

The Cowgirls went 3-2 at the event to move to 6-4 on the year; Duke improved to 7-1.

Oklahoma State jumped on the Blue Devils early, thanks to a three-run first inning highlighted by a two-run double by Amanda Hasler. Duke got a run back in the bottom of the first, then another in the second before a grand slam by Tyrina Jones put the Blue Devils up, 6-3.

Hasler smashed her second RBI double of the game in the top of the third. Later in the inning, Jayden Jones stepped up to the plate with bases loaded and hit a grounder to first that was bobbled and then thrown away, leading to a pair of OSU runs and tying the score at six.

From there, the game shifted in favor of pitching and defense on both sides, with neither team able to score until Shadek's game-winning homer in the sixth.

Ruby Meylan slipped to 2-3 on the year by taking the loss. She went 4.2 innings in relief of starter RyLee Crandall. Mallory Wheeler came on in relief and improved to 3-0 after being credited with the win for the Blue Devils.

Offensive standouts for the Cowgirls included Rosie Davis, Hasler and Tia Warsop with two hits apiece. Hasler and Jones combined for five RBIs. Jayelle Austin and Warsop also contributed with outstanding defensive plays.

OSU returns to action when it travels to the River State Classic in San Marcos, Texas next week.
