Cowgirls Add DII National Player of the Year

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has signed the 2026 D2CCA Ron Lenz National Player of the Year Talexa Weeter it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jacie Hoyt.
"We are thrilled with the addition of Talexa. As we look to reload our roster, it is important to find kids who align with the values we want our program to be built on — hard work, gratitude and a team-first approach that values winning above all else," Hoyt said.
"Talexa is a versatile player that was one of the country's most efficient scorers last year. She can stretch the floor and shoot, but also loves physicality around the rim. She will create mismatches for opponents and brings a competitiveness that our fans will love!"
A 6-0 guard, Weeter enjoyed a historic junior campaign at Fort Hays State that saw her lead NCAA Division II in scoring at 27.5 points per outing. Additionally, she broke the MIAA's scoring record with 852 points, which is also the 13th-best tally in a season in DII history.
Weeter scored in double figures in all 31 games this past season for the Tigers, including a 46-point outburst in the first round of the NCAA Central Regional to match the school's single-game record.
Weeter was named both the MIAA and D2CCA Central Region Player of the Year after logging 10 double-doubles on the season.
A native of Goodland, Kan., she ranked third in the MIAA with her 8.9 rebounds per outing and was second among league players with in field-goal percentage (51.5 percent) while earning MIAA Player of the Week honors on five occasions.
As a sophomore, Weeter earned All-MIAA honorable mention honors and was named to the MIAA all-tournament team. In 33 games, she averaged 14.6 points while averaging 6.0 boards per game as well. For the year, she shot 53 percent from the floor and and ranked ninth in the league with her 32 blocked shots.
