Cowgirls drop final game of the series against UCF, 6-4
March 08, 2026 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – The No. 19 Oklahoma State softball team dropped the rubber match of its weekend series against No. 24 UCF, 6-4, Sunday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium.
The Cowgirls fell to 17-7 on the season and 1-2 in Big 12 play, while UCF improved to 22-5 and 2-1 in conference.
A two-run home run from OSU third baseman Rosie Davis opened the scoring in the third inning, but UCF evened the game in the fourth after a solo homer from Beth Damon and an RBI double from Coco Jaimes.
A sacrifice fly from Damon in the fifth gave the Knights their first lead of the game. UCF added another in the sixth when Samantha Rey singled home Kendall Yarnell to extend the advantage to 4-2.
Oklahoma State responded with a rally of its own in the sixth, headlined by an RBI double from Audrey Schneidmiller and a sacrifice fly from Tia Warsop that leveled the game at four.
In the seventh, UCF broke the deadlock with an RBI double from Sierra Humphreys, then added an insurance run by way of an RBI single from Yarnell. The Cowgirls mounted a threat in the bottom of the seventh by getting two runners on with only one out, but Knights right-hander Isabella Vega got Davis to foul out to the catcher and got Karli Godwin to ground out to second to end the game.
Making her second start in as many days, Ruby Meylan (7-5) took the loss for the Cowgirls. The senior from Omaha, Nebraska threw 302 pitches for OSU during the weekend series. UCF utilized multiple pitchers throughout the contest, but starter Isabella Vega (7-2) played a key role in the victory. Vega, who surrendered the game-winning walk in Saturday's matchup, rebounded with a strong outing, pitching 4 2/3 innings and earning her seventh win of the season.
OSU returns to action when it hosts Wichita State at 6 p.m. CT Wednesday in Cowgirl Stadium.
