Cowgirls secure series against No. 16 Arizona
April 19, 2026 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – An Audrey Schneidmiller two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning broke a tie and powered the No. 21/21 Oklahoma State Cowgirls softball past No. 16/16 Arizona, 7-5, on Sunday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium.
The win improved the Cowgirls to 30-12 overall and 11-7 in Big 12 play, while Arizona fell to 31-13 and 12-6 in conference action.
Oklahoma State pulled ahead with the game tied at five apiece entering the bottom of the fifth. Tia Warsop recorded her second hit of the game to set up Schneidmiller's go-ahead home run, which proved to be the difference.
Arizona scored four runs in the first inning for the second straight game, but OSU answered in the bottom half to tie it. The rally began when Lexi McDonald doubled down the right-field line to drive in two runs. Amanda Hasler added another on a single to third base, and the final run of the inning scored when Warsop grounded into a double play, allowing McDonald to cross the plate.
The Pokes regained the lead in the fourth inning when Claire Timm delivered a sacrifice fly to score Warsop, who reached on the 100th hit of her career earlier in the inning. Arizona tied the game in the fifth with an RBI double before surrendering the lead on Schneidmiller's home run.
Ruby Meylan (20-6) started in the circle for the Cowgirls and pitched her fifth consecutive complete game, extending her winning streak to nine. She struck out four and allowed one walk in earning her 20th win of the season. Jalen Adams (18-7) took the loss in relief for the Wildcats.
Oklahoma State has won three of its last four games against Top 25 opponents, including OSU's eighth win over a top-ranked team in program history following the 6-4 win over No. 1 Oklahoma on Wednesday in Oklahoma City.
The Cowgirls return to action at 7 p.m. CT on April 22 in Austin against No. 5/5 Texas. The contest will be televised on ESPN2 and can be heard on the Varsity Network app with Ryan Breeden on the call.
