Cowgirls Add Perimeter Threat To Backcourt
April 21, 2026 | Cowgirl Basketball
STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has added depth to its perimeter with the signing of Zoe Canfield it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jacie Hoyt.
"I am so excited about the addition of Zoe. I have known about her since she was in grade school and have always respected her love for the game and her work ethic. We align with one another in so many ways and that is special for me to have as a coach. Our culture got stronger the second Zoe decided to be a Cowgirl," head coach Jacie Hoyt said.
"It was important for us to continue to put great shooters on the floor. We have always hung our hat on shooting the three and she fits perfectly into that mold. She is a specialist who understands her strengths and wants to use them to contribute to being part of a great team."
A 5-11 guard, Canfield spent her sophomore campaign at Missouri State where she was limited to 10 games due to injury. For the year, she averaged 0.9 points and 0.5 rebounds per contest.
As a freshman, Canfield competed at Kansas where she saw action in 15 games for the Jayhawks. She averaged 1.7 points per game and made eight of her 16 3-point attempts on the year. In KU's contest at Kansas State, she scored a career-high 12 points, making four of her five shots from the floor against the Wildcats.
During her prep career, Canfield was a two-sport standout at Washburn Rural in Topeka, Kan., competing in basketball and volleyball.
On the hardwood, she led the Junior Blues to three consecutive state tournament appearances, winning the Class 6A title in 2022 before earning runner-up finishes in each of the next two years.
Canfield was named an all-state selection three times, earning first-team honors in 2024. That year, she was named a finalist for the Topeka Capital-Journal's Female Athlete of the Year award. Additionally, Canfield was named an All-Centennial League pick three times.
She guided Washburn Rural's volleyball team to the state tournament on four occasions, capturing the title in 2022. That season, she was named to the event's all-tournament team.
