Cowgirl 4x800 Meter Relay clocks second-fastest time in NCAA History and shatters Drake Relays Record
April 25, 2026 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's outdoor track & field kicked off a busy tri-meet weekend at the Drake Relays, John McDonnell Invitational and OU O Ring Open, headlined by an outstanding performance by the Cowgirls relay squads in Iowa.
At the historic 100th edition of the Drake Relays in Iowa, the Cowgirls opened the weekend with an impressive runner-up performance in the 4x1600 Meter Relay. The Cowgirl quartet of Paige Stuart, Maureen Rutoh, Aubrey O'Connell and Madi Surber clocked a time of 19:07.24 with Surber closing with an incredible final 200 meters but came up just short of the win by less than a second.
The best performance of the weekend came in the nightcap during the women's 4x800 Meter Relay. The OSU squad of Kadence Huck, Elyse Wilmes, Kaylie Politza and Billah Jepkirui set an event, facility and program record with a blistering time of 8:16.65, coming just five tenths of a second away from the collegiate record of 8:16.12. The time breaks the Drake Relays record of 8:25.25 and the facility record of 8:19.26 and defeated the rest of the field by more than ten seconds.
In the 100-year history of the Drake Relays, this Cowgirl group clocked a time nearly nine seconds faster than any other in the event's history, with splits of 2:07.35, 2:03.28, 2:03.98 and 2:02.05 on the day.
Down in Arkansas at the John McDonnell Invite in Fayetteville, Cowgirl underclassmen Kailey Littlefield and Hailey Johnson scored two top five positions in the women's 800 Meters, with Littlefield taking the win individually. Littlefield's win was her second consecutive meet victory in the 800 Meters, also winning the Arkansas Spring Invitational earlier this month. Johnson placed fourth overall after pacing the field through the first 400 meters.
In the women's 1,500 Meters, Colleen Stegmann was one of three Cowgirls who set a new personal-best time, conquering her first outdoor victory this season after logging a time of 4:25.99. Jinane Mahi closed in behind to take second, clocking a time of 4:26.28, while Cayden Dawson took fourth following her time of 4:31.74.
At the OU O Ring Alumni Open in Norman, Okla., Jamila Isman finished the first day of the women's Heptathlon in first place with a score of 3,300 points through four of seven events. After taking third in the 100 Meter Hurdles, Isman hit her stride in the High Jump (1.63m) and Shot Put (13.48m), taking victory in both events. After logging a time of 25.44 in the 200 Meters and scoring a fourth-place finish, she sits 87 points ahead of second place heading into the second day.
In the men's Decathlon, Behr Boyd and Crayton Shaw sit first and second overall with 3,544 and 3,412 points, respectively after five of ten events. Boyd topped the leaderboard in the 100 Meters, 400 Meters and the Long Jump, while Shaw won the High Jump and Shot Put.
The Cowgirls will look to win their first-ever Drake Relays Cup with the remaining four (4x100, 4x400, Distance Medley Relay and Sprint Medley Relay) taking place Saturday.
