Oklahoma State from a Distance
The Oklahoma State softball team has won eight of its last nine and comes off its first Big 12 sweep of the season.
The Cowgirls hold seven wins over ranked opponents and 10 run-rule wins on the season, which was tied for the most through the first 21 games in program history. OSU averages 6.7 runs per game, which would set a new program record if the season ended today.
Veterans Claire Timm, Audrey Schneidmiller, Amanda Hasler, Tia Warsop, Rosie Davis and Karli Godwin have all been productive offensively, with Timm and Schneidmiller on pace for the best seasons of their respective careers. Davis and Hasler have combined for 32 extra-base hits and 72 RBIs. Freshmen Jayelle Austin, Gabby Castillo and Aubrey Jones have all made immediate impacts, with Austin pacing the team in walks and the latter two piecing together solid freshman campaigns.
Two-time All-American Ruby Meylan ranks in the top 10 among all active players in career pitching appearances (146), innings pitched (648.0) and strikeouts (717). She's been as dominant as ever this season as she leads the Big 12 in innings pitched (134.2) and is second in strikeouts (136) and wins (15). Senior RyLee Crandall and freshman Preslee Downing have combined to go 10-3.
