Cowboy Basketball signs former UCF standout Burks
May 26, 2026 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER — Oklahoma State has signed UCF transfer Jordan Burks, a 6-foot-9 forward from Decatur, Ala., head coach Steve Lutz announced today.
Burks started all 33 games for the Knights during the 2025-26 season, helping the program to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2019. He averaged 13.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 steal in 28.2 minutes per game while shooting 45.5% from the field, 37.3% from three-point range and 78.2% at the free throw line.
A long and versatile frontcourt piece, Burks split time between the wing and forward spots at UCF, developing into one of the Knights' top scoring options after previous stops at Kentucky and Georgetown. He knocked down 60 threes as a junior, including a 6-for-11 performance from deep against UCLA in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
"Jordan gives us another experienced, versatile piece with size, athleticism and scoring ability," Lutz said. "He can play multiple spots, stretch the floor and make shots in big moments. You can see the growth in his game from year to year, and we're excited about the way he fits with how we want to play."
Burks scored 20 or more points five times last season, highlighted by a season-high 24 points in UCF's 97-84 win over No. 19 BYU on Feb. 24. He added six rebounds, two steals and a block in that victory.
He also delivered in late-game situations, hitting go-ahead threes in the final minute of three different UCF wins: against No. 17 Kansas on Jan. 3, Arizona State on Jan. 27 and Utah on Feb. 21. Burks finished the season with more steals than turnovers, collecting 34 steals against just 29 giveaways.
Prior to UCF, Burks spent the 2024-25 season at Georgetown, playing alongside another OSU signee, 7-footer Julius Halaifonua. Burks appeared in all 34 games and helped the Hoyas reach the semifinals of the Crown Basketball Classic. He averaged 5.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 18.6 minutes per game while shooting 52% from the field.
Burks closed that season on a high note, averaging 10.4 points and 5.3 rebounds over Georgetown's final nine games after moving into the starting lineup. He recorded his first two collegiate double-doubles in March, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds at Marquette before posting season highs of 16 points and 13 boards in a Crown quarterfinal win over Washington State.
Burks began his career at Kentucky in 2023-24, appearing in 20 games off the bench for a Wildcat squad that was ranked wire-to-wire in the Associated Press Top 25.
A former three-star recruit, Burks signed with Kentucky in June 2023 after finishing his prep career at Hillcrest Prep and competing in the Overtime Elite league. He led OTE in scoring at 26.4 points per game during the regular season and playoffs while adding 6.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.4 steals. He scored at least 20 points in all but one contest, including a season-high 42-point performance.
