OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Just one day after being named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, Ruby Meylan threw a one-hit shutout to lead the No. 16/15 Oklahoma State softball team to a 7-0 win over Utah in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Tournament Thursday at Devon Park.

The victory improved Oklahoma State to 38-14 overall, while Utah fell to 35-20-1. With the win, the Cowgirls now await the winner of Thursday night's matchup between Arizona and Arizona State.

After four scoreless innings, the Cowgirls broke the game open in the fifth. OSU scored the first run on an RBI single up the middle by Rosie Davis before Amanda Hasler cleared the bases with a three-run triple down the left-field line. Madison Hoffman followed with an RBI single to bring home Hasler and extend the lead to 5-0.

The Cowgirls added two more runs in the sixth inning when Karli Godwin hit a two-run home run, her seventh of the season. Jayelle Austin scored on the play after drawing a walk earlier in the inning. Austin's walk marked her 31st of the season to set a single-season OSU freshman record.

Meylan (27-6) continued her dominant season in the circle, throwing her 20th complete game and recording her eighth shutout of the year. She allowed only one hit, which came on the first batter of the seventh inning. The outing marked Meylan's fourth one-hitter of the season and her 27th victory overall.

Hailey Maestretti (13-8) started for Utah and pitched five innings before taking the loss.

The Cowgirls will play the winner of No. 24/25 Arizona State vs. No. 20/20 Arizona at 7 p.m. CT tomorrow inside Devon Park.
