Top-ranked Cowboys open season with dominant victory at Cowboy Preview

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2026 season strong, with both squads winning the Cowboy Preview in dominant fashion at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course on Saturday morning.
The No. 1 Cowboys claimed their first victory of the season in the men's 5K over Oklahoma, No. 18 Tulsa and Texas Tech, scoring 31 points and placing six athletes in the top 10. Dating back to last season, the Cowboys have now won seven consecutive meets.
Senior Laban Kipkemboi finished third for the Cowboys with a time of 15:13.4. Oliver Patton and Henry Dover were the next Cowboys to cross the finish line, placing fifth and sixth overall with times of 15:16.8 and 15:18.1, respectively. Jacob Deacon and Nate Stadtlander rounded out the scoring for OSU in eighth and ninth place. True freshman also earned a top ten finish on the day in his first career race as he placed tenth.
The 17th-ranked Cowgirls took home the team title in the women's 3K with a score of 26 points, also placing six runners in the top 10. Victoria Lagat led the way for the Cowgirls, taking second with a time of 10:18.9. Gentry Turner followed in fourth with her mark of 10:29.1, with sophomore Adelynn Rodriguez rounding out the top five, finishing three seconds behind Turner in 10:32.4. Autumn Michalski, Mandeep Sangha and Bella Nelson rounded out the scoring for the OSU women in seventh, eighth and ninth overall.
Next up for OSU is the 88th annual Cowboy Jamboree on Sept. 26 in Stillwater at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course. The Cowboys will be looking for their third consecutive victory at the Jamboree, while the Cowgirls are looking to return to the top step of the podium after back-to-back second-place finishes.
