STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team remained undefeated on the season with a convincing 74-35 win over Texas-Pan American on Sunday in front of 2,115 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The win was OSU's first since head coach Jim Littell had the interim tag removed from his title on Dec. 9.
The Cowgirls (6-0), who finished with four players in double figures, shot 52 percent in the first half, marking the fifth time this season they have hit at least half of their shots in a half. Defensively, OSU forced UTPA (4-9) into nine turnovers and just a 24 percent shooting effort in the half.
The Cowgirls scored the game's first nine points and took their first double-digit lead at the 13-minute mark. Freshman Liz Donohoe drilled a 3-pointer with a minute remaining in the half to extend the OSU advantage to 36-16 before the Cowgirls headed into the break up 38-16.
Donohoe recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 boards, while Lindsey Keller tallied her first double-double of the year. The junior finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Vicky McIntyre narrowly missed tallying a third double-double by a Cowgirl, finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds.
The second half provided more of the same for OSU, which held the Broncs to just six field goals, a 23 percent shooting clip and forced nine more turnovers.
Junior Toni Young came off the bench to lead the Cowgirls in scoring. In just 15 minutes, the Del City, Okla., native hit eight of her 11 shots from the floor en route to a 17-point outing.
Sophomore Tiffany Bias, the nation's leader in assists per game, finished with a game-high seven assists.
UTPA's Bianca Torre led all scorers with 20 points behind a 6-of-10 effort from beyond the 3-point line.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Thursday when they host Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7 p.m. in Stillwater.
