Cowboy Basketball’s Jennings out for the season

STILLWATER -- Oklahoma State head coach Steve Lutz announced Friday that forward Robert Jennings II will be shut down for the remainder of the season due to a lingering hip injury.
Jennings last appeared in the Cowboys' Nov. 12 win over Prairie View A&M, contributing five points and eight rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench. The 6-foot-7 senior had been a key rotation piece early in the season, starting the first three games and averaging 3.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 steal in 13 minutes per game.
"It's incredibly disappointing for Rob because of how hard he's worked to get himself back on the court," Lutz said. "He had surgery in the offseason to correct an issue with his hip, but unfortunately, it hasn't responded the way we had hoped. After consulting with our medical staff, we've decided to shut him down for the season with the goal of getting him back to full strength. We're certainly going to miss him on the floor, but Rob will continue to lead and support this team in a big way behind the scenes."
Jennings was a mainstay in Oklahoma State's lineup last season, starting all 35 games. Prior to his time in Stillwater, the DeSoto, Texas native played two seasons at Texas Tech, where he made 61 appearances and 14 starts for the Red Raiders.
Jennings earned his bachelor's degree in University Studies from Oklahoma State last spring and is currently pursuing a second degree in Management.
