- The 9-0 Cowboys continued their best start and longest winning streak since 2006 with a gritty 84-78 victory over Grand Canyon at the Jerry Colangelo Classic.
- Parsa Fallah scored 25 points on 8-of-9 shooting for OSU, which began the day as one of 15 unbeatens left in Division I and will end it as one of no more nine (7-0 Arizona will tip off late Saturday against Auburn).
- The Cowboys trailed 67-64 with just under 8:00 remaining before mounting a 13-2 run, capped by Christian Coleman's basket that made it a 77-69 OSU lead with 2:43 to play.
- Kanye Clary delivered two game-sealing plays over the final 14 seconds with a three-pointer that stretched a two-point lead to five, followed by a steal.

- This was the first ever men's basketball meeting between the schools.
- OSU improved to 1-1 all-time at the Phoenix Suns' arena, now called the Mortgage Matchup Center. Eddie Sutton's Cowboys played a top 25 showdown there against Arizona on Dec. 5, 1993 when the building was just over a year old.
- The OSU-GCU matchup was part of a neutral court doubleheader – the Jerry Colangelo Classic – the also included Oklahoma and Arizona State. The Cowboys will face OU next Saturday at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City (Noon CT, FOX) and will travel to ASU in February.

- This is the eleventh 9-0 start in the 117 seasons of Cowboy Basketball.
- The Cowboys are 2-0 this season on NBA courts, having previously defeated Northwestern on Thanksgiving night at the United Center (Chicago Bulls). They have another on the way next weekend at the Paycom Center (Oklahoma City Thunder).
- The Cowboys improved to 21-0 under Lutz when scoring at least 80 points. They've reached the mark in all nine games so far.
- OSU is now 21-2 under Lutz when leading at halftime.
- OSU was outrebounded for the first time this season (34-32).
- The Cowboys topped 50 percent from the field for the fifth time in their last six games.
Individual Notes:Â
- Parsa Fallah followed up Tuesday's 24-point game with a season-high 25 against GCU. His 68.5% field goal percentage tops the Big 12 leaderboard.
- Christian Coleman tied his season high in points with 16 to go along with six rebounds and a steal.
- Sophomore guard Vyctorius Miller was absent from tonight's game after sustaining an injury in the first half of the previous game against Sam Houston.
