The Basics
The No. 23/21 Oklahoma State softball team (19-9 overall, 2-4 Big 12) continues Big 12 league play with a Thursday-through-Saturday home series with BYU (8-18 overall, 0-3 Big 12).

Oklahoma State is ranked No. 23 in the GoRout/NFCA Coaches Poll. The ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 ranks the Cowgirls at No. 21, while Softball America has the Pokes at No. 22 and D1Softball has OSU at No. 20. In the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), the Cowgirls are No. 24.
BYU is unranked.
The Cowgirls were picked to finish second in the Big 12 Conference with one first-place vote in a poll by the league's head coaches.

Oklahoma State from a Distance
Of Oklahoma State's first 28 games, 16 have been played against teams ranked in the top 25 of the NFCA Coaches Poll. The NCAA lists OSU's gauntlet as the third-toughest in the Big 12 and the 24th-toughest in the nation to this point.
The Cowgirls hold seven wins over ranked opponents and nine run-rule wins on the season, which was tied for the most through the first 21 games in program history. OSU averages 6.8 runs per game, which would set a new program record if the season ended today.
Veterans Claire Timm, Audrey Schneidmiller, Amanda Hasler, Tia Warsop, Rosie Davis and Karli Godwin have all been productive offensively, with Timm and Schneidmiller on pace for the best seasons of their respective careers. Freshmen Aubrey Jones and Jayelle Austin have made immediate impacts, with Jones second on the team in batting average and Austin ranking among the team leaders in several categories, including home runs, extra base hits, runs scored, walks, stolen bases and more. Defensively, Virginia Tech transfer Jayden Jones has been a standout.
Two-time All-American Ruby Meylan ranks in the top 10 among all active players in career pitching appearances (139), innings pitched (616.0) and strikeouts (683). This season, she leads the Big 12 in innings pitched (102.2) and strikeouts (102). Senior RyLee Crandall and freshman Preslee Downing have combined to go 10-2.

• OSU has been ranked or receiving votes in the NFCA poll in each of its last 415 games, dating back to the start of the 2019 season.
• OSU has scored first in 19 of its 28 contests this season.
• Claire Timm has at least one hit in six of her last eight games and has reached base in each of her last nine.
