Cowboys Fifth After Day One At Mountaineer Invite

BRIDGEPORT, W. Va.. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team wrapped up the first day of action at the Mountaineer Invitational in fifth place with its 3-under total of 573 at Pete Dye Golf Club.
OSU finished the day two shots out of fourth and just five shots off the pace of Clemson for the top spot on the leaderboard at the par-72, 7,308-yard layout. The Cowboys posted rounds of 288 and 285 to get to their 3-under tally.
Play was suspended for the day due to darkness. The third round will begin tomorrow following the completion of the second round.
OSU's Preston Stout paced the individual race with his 8-under total of 136. The Cowboy junior fired rounds of 69 and 67 to lead by one.
Stout's opening round featured a pair of birdie runs with the All-American reeling off four in a row on the front nine from Nos. 3-6 before a three-hole stretch from Nos. 10-12. He would go without a bogey during his second round, finishing his round with five birdies to take the top spot on the board.
Junior Gaven Lane joined his teammate in the top five, posting rounds of 67 and 73 to stand at 140 and tied for fourth place.
Redshirt freshman Collin Bond, who is competing individually, and junior Eric Lee were among the group tied for 36th place at 145. Bond has one hole remaining in his second round after opening with a 75. Lee posted scores of 77 and 71.
Junior Ethan Fang posted a pair of 75s to come in tied for 49th place at 150.
Sophomore Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson signed for rounds of 77 and 74 to finish at 151 and tied for 56th place.
