Cowboy Basketball unveils 14-Game nonconference schedule

STILLWATER – Fans won't have to travel far to watch the Cowboys during the nonconference portion of their 2026-27 men's basketball schedule.
The 14-game slate, released Friday, includes 11 games on Oklahoma soil – nine at historic Gallagher-Iba Arena plus a pair of neutral site contests in downtown Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
The Cowboys will further test themselves with a Nov. 12 road trip to Texas A&M and two games at the Rays Children's Charleston Classic (Nov. 20 and 22) against a field that includes Dayton, Minnesota, Northwestern, Utah and Virginia Tech.
Oklahoma State tips off its 118th men's basketball season and 89th at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Monday, Nov. 2 against Incarnate Word. The home slate also includes Queens (Nov. 6), Central Arkansas (Nov. 16), Jackson State (Nov. 25), Tennessee State (Nov. 29), Grand Canyon (Dec. 2), Saint Mary's (Dec. 5), Oral Roberts (Dec. 16) and Houston Christian (Dec. 29).
Bedlam returns to Oklahoma City's Paycom Center on Saturday, Dec. 12 with a men's and women's doubleheader. Fans can visit okstate.com/BedlamOKC to purchase seats in designated OSU sections.
Eight days later, the Cowboys head up the turnpike for a Sunday, Dec. 20 matchup with Northwestern at Tulsa's BOK Center. It will be OSU's third appearance at the venue and its first since 2019.
With NCAA scheduling limits expanded for 2026-27, the Cowboys have added a 32nd regular-season game as well as a third October exhibition.
As previously announced, OSU will host its first preseason contest against New Mexico on Sunday, Oct. 11 before welcoming Tulsa to Gallagher-Iba Arena for a Homecoming Friday matinee on Oct. 23. The final exhibition comes Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Wisconsin.
Tipoff times and television assignments will be announced in the coming weeks, along with the complete 18-game Big 12 Conference schedule.

The Cowboys will play two predetermined matchups from a six-team field that also includes Dayton, Minnesota, Northwestern, Utah and Virginia Tech. OSU last faced Dayton in 1983, Minnesota in 2019 and Virginia Tech in 2022. The tournament comes one month before OSU's scheduled matchup with Northwestern and could also give the Cowboys a sneak peek at a Utah team they will meet twice during Big 12 play.
Jackson State Tigers
Wednesday, Nov. 25 | Stillwater | Gallagher-Iba Arena
Former Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins, a starter on the franchise's 2012 NBA Finals team, serves as Jackson State's first general manager. Tigers head coach Trey Johnson was a senior guard on the last JSU team to face OSU in November 2005.
Tennessee State Tigers
Sunday, Nov. 29 | Stillwater | Gallagher-Iba Arena
Former Duke standout and first-round NBA Draft pick Nolan Smith led Tennessee State to the NCAA Tournament in his first season as head coach. The Tigers have reloaded with a transfer class that includes former McDonald's All-Americans.
Grand Canyon Lopes

The Cowboys defeated Grand Canyon, 84-78, last December on the Phoenix Suns' home floor at the Jerry Colangelo Classic. The Lopes now make the return trip to Stillwater after a 20-win season in which they finished No. 70 in the NET.

OSU has won both previous meetings, including a 71-70 thriller in 1996 decided by Jason Skaer's buzzer-beating 3-pointer. The 252nd Bedlam meeting marks the 100th consecutive season that the schools have met on the hardwood. The all-time series dates to Dec. 7, 1907 — just three weeks after Oklahoma became a state.

OSU meets Oral Roberts for the fourth consecutive season and eighth time in the last decade. The Cowboys opened last season with a 95-71 win over the Golden Eagles in Stillwater.

OSU's third appearance at Tulsa's BOK Center will be its first since 2019. It's a rematch of last season's Thanksgiving night matchup at the United Center in Chicago, where the Cowboys earned an 86-81 victory.

OSU is 13-1 all-time against Houston Christian, formerly Houston Baptist. Gene Iba, nephew of legendary Cowboy coach Henry Iba, led the Huskies to their lone series victory during the 1983-84 season — the same year he guided HBU to its first NCAA Tournament appearance.
