Carroll Scores Career-High 18 Points In Loss to Iowa State

Stillwater, Okla. ---- Jeffrey Carroll scored a career-high 18 points in a 64-59 loss to Iowa State on Saturday in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Carroll finished shooting four-of-seven from behind the arc and brought down seven rebounds.
The Cowboys found themselves in position to win late in the game for the second-consecutive game, but key free throws with less than a minute remaining allowed the Cyclones to hang on for the win.
After falling behind early after halftime, a Tavarius Shine layup cut the Iowa State lead to 49-43 with 7:49 left, and a Carroll three a couple of minutes later made it 49-46.
A pair of Carroll threes cut the deficit to two with 5:52 remaining before a Joe Burton's layup with 3:59 left made it  51-49 Iowa State at the final media timeout.
The teams traded baskets out of the timeout until a Carroll three tied the game at 58 with 1:42 remaining.
Iowa State's Monte Morris made two free throws with 13 seconds left to help secure the win for the Cyclones.
Oklahoma State couldn't have asked for a much better start to the first half, jumping out to a quick 7-0 lead.
The Cowboys eventually led 12-3 at the second media timeout with 11:15 left after a Chris Olivier layup.
Leyton Hammonds jumper with 6:09 remaining until halftime stopped an Iowa State run and cut the Oklahoma State deficit to 15-14, and an Olivier jumper the following possession off a Hammonds assist gave the Cowboys a 16-14 lead.
A Shine jumper with 13 seconds remaining gave Oklahoma State a 24-22 lead at halftime.
Georges Niang led the way for Iowa State with 18 points and 9 rebounds.
Alongside Carroll, the Cowboys also had an impact performance from Hammonds. He finished with 12 points, three rebounds and two assists.
