Cowboy Tennis Wins Sixth-Straight, Handles Tulane

NEW ORLEANS, La. – In a midweek contest, the No. 23 Oklahoma State men's tennis team defeated Tulane, 4-1, on Wednesday at the City Park Tennis Center
With the win, OSU improved to 10-2, the best start to a season since 2015-16. It also boosted the all-time series lead to 5-3 over Tulane.
Starting with doubles, the Pokes jumped out in front, with Tyler Zink and Alex Garcia defeating Tulane's Luc Hoeijmans and Alex Bancila, 6-2 on the centre court.
The Green Wave were quick to respond when Luka Petrovic and Sam Scherer dropped the freshman pairing Goran Zgola and Erik Schiessl, 6-3.
With the doubles point riding on court two, a tight match saw a 5-5 deuce point go in favor of Tulane to take a 6-5 advantage. In the next game, another deuce point saw an OSU victory, forcing the match into a tiebreaker for the doubles point. In the breaker, the Cowboys were dominant, winning 7-2 to put the Pokes up 1-0. The win marked the sixth-consecutive doubles point for Oklahoma State.
OSU rode the momentum into singles, claiming four first sets.
Isaac Becroft kicked things off for Oklahoma State, winning 6-3, 6-2, over Bancila in a match that finished in just over an hour.
Zink followed with a straight-set 6-3, 6-3, win over Tulane's Billy Suarez to grow the OSU lead to 3-0.
Just before the conclusion of the match, Tulane's Luc Hoeijmans bested Basile, 6-4, 6-4, to put the Green Wave on the board.
With a commanding lead, OSU's Fracisco Pini clinched the match for the Pokes, gliding past Rafael de Alba, 6-2, 6-3.
The Cowboys will return home for a five-match homestand starting with Wichita State on Sunday at noon CT at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
