Â
Opening Tips:
- The Oklahoma State Cowboys return to Boulder for the first time in 15 years for a Big 12 Conference matchup against the Colorado Buffaloes.
- Last January's 83-73 Cowboy win in Stillwater marked the first meeting of Colorado's second stint in the Big 12. OSU last played at the CU Events Center on Jan. 15, 2011, during 16th year head coach Tad Boyle's debut season.
- The Cowboys are looking to end a four-game losing streak -- their longest in two seasons under Steve Lutz. It includes losses to a pair of AP top-10 teams and another in overtime.
- Wednesday night in Stillwater, KU freshman Darryn Peterson put the Cowboys in an early hole with 20 first-half points in an eventual 81-69 Jayhawk win. OSU's Parsa Fallah (21) posted his second straight 20-point performance, but the Pokes shot just 34.8% from the field against a Jayhawk defense that ranks among KenPom's top-10 in efficiency.
- OSU has dropped five of its six true road games this season with its lone victory coming exactly three weeks ago at Utah.
- OSU is averaging 84.1 points per game (third in the Big 12 and 29th nationally).
- The Cowboys have scored at least 81 points in all 16 victories but are 0-9 when falling short of that mark.
- OSU has topped the 90-point mark 10 times -- two shy of the program record set in 2016-17.
- With a win over CU, the Pokes (16-10) would match their 2024-25 victory total (17-18) with two weeks still to play in the regular season.
- Six Cowboys average at least 9.0 points, led by Anthony Roy (17.5 ppg). The senior ranks among the nation's best three-point shooters by both volume (16th, 3.35) and accuracy (34th, .416), and his streak of 22-straight games with a triple is tied for the sixth-longest ever by a Cowboy.
- Fallah (13.6 ppg) is the team's top rebounder at 6.1 per game and his .606 shooting percentage is the Big 12's second-highest.
- Kanye Clary (5.0 apg, 2.57 A:TO) has posted more assists than turnovers in 23 consecutive games, tying Doug Gottlieb's 28-year old program record.
- Clary and Jaylen Curry (4.1 apg) key one the nation's most aggressive attacks (13th in adjusted tempo).

- 1957 – A capacity crowd stormed the court and carried Mel Wright off the floor after the senior captain sank a last second shot to give the Aggies a 56-54 win over Wilt Chamberlain-led Kansas.
- 1979 – Don Youman banked in a 10-footer with seven seconds left to give the Cowboys a 55-53 win over visiting Colorado.

Last Time on Cowboy Basketball:
Wednesday, Feb. 18 in Stillwater | #8 Kansas 81, OSU 69
- Darryn Peterson scored 20 of his 23 points in the first half to help Kansas to an 81-69 win.
- Peterson hit 6-of-10 threes for the game -- five of them in the first 15 minutes as the Jayhawks build a 39-16 lead.
- Parsa Fallah scored 21 points to lead OSU, which dropped its fourth straight game.
- The Cowboys shook off a 5-for-23 shooting start with an 11-0 run and closed the gap to 43-29 at halftime.
- Fallah scored the first seven OSU points of the second half, including a three-point play that thinned the margin to 46-36 with 17:22 to go, but OSU would get no closer.
- Anthony Roy was the only other Cowboy in double-figures with 16 points.
- OSU shot just 34.8 percent from the field, including 7-of-28 from three.
- Helped by Peterson's early shooting, Kansas hit 11-of-24 from deep and 45.9 percent overall while totaling 20 assists.
- Bryson Tiller and Flory Bidunga each grabbed 11 boards to help the Jayhawks finish with a 41-38 edge on the glass.
###
Â
KU Leftovers:
- Parsa Fallah has logged back-to-back 20-point games. He and Anthony Roy share the team lead with seven 20-point games apiece.
- Roy logged his team-best 22nd double-figure scoring game. Iowa State (7 on Jan. 24) is the only team to hold him to single-digits.
- OSU has dropped four straight games for the first time under Steve Lutz.
- Over this stretch, the Cowboys have led for a combined total of 2 minutes, 29 seconds. Their last lead came in the early minutes of the Feb. 10 game at Arizona State (7-6, 16:41 1H). They trailed wire-to-wire in subsequent setbacks against TCU and Kansas.
###
Â
Streaks & Trends:
- Anthony Roy has made at least one three-point field goal in each of his last 22 contests -- now tied for the sixth-longest run in OSU history.
- If Roy connects again in Boulder, he'd have sixth-place all to himself, as well as the longest streak since current Cowboy assist Keiton Page's senior season (31, 2011-12).
- A 95-92 overtime loss to TCU on Feb. 14 marked the first time in two seasons under Steve Lutz that the Cowboys have lost a game when scoring at least 81 points. Prior to it, the Cowboys were 26-0 (16-0 this season) when reaching that mark. They're 0-9 this season when scoring less than 81.
- The TCU game was also OSU's first overtime affair under Lutz. Cowboy teams have dropped eight consecutive OT games, last winning Feb. 19, 2022 against K-State.
- OSU is 13-1 this season when tied or leading at halftime (28-3 overall under Lutz). The lone loss came at TCU on Jan. 20.
- OSU is 12-0 this season (24-5 Lutz era) when out-rebounding the opposition.
- Guards Kanye Clary and Jaylen Curry have combined for double-figure assists in nine different games.
Consecutive Games with a 3-Pointer:
59 -- John Lucas (Jan. 3, 2004 to Mar. 24, 2005)
36 -- Brooks Thompson (Mar. 19, 1993 to Mar. 20, 1994)
31 -- Keiton Page (Nov. 15, 2011 to Mar. 8, 2012)
29 -- James Anderson (Mar. 3, 2009 to Feb. 1, 2010)
25 -- Randy Rutherford (Dec. 3, 1994 to Mar. 10, 1995)
22 -- Anthony Roy (Nov. 16, 2025 to Present)
22 -- Phil Forte (Nov. 23, 2016 to Feb. 18, 2017)
21 -- Phil Forte (Mar. 3, 2014 to Jan. 13, 2015)
Â
Â
Depth Charged:
- After using 15 starting lineups, involving 12 different Cowboys, in the first 17 games, Steve Lutz has settled into a routine, with the grouping of Clary-Miller-Roy-C.Coleman-Fallah opening each of the last eight contests. They've made a total of nine starts together this season.
- Lutz doesn't put much stock in who is on the floor for the opening tipoff, but rather who is playing well enough to be there when the clock hits zero.
- Seven Pokes have taken a turn as minutes leader this season, led by Kanye Clary (7 times) and Anthony Roy (5). Jaylen Curry has done it four times from off the bench.
- Reserves are averaging just over a third of the team's points (27.8) and 36.1% of the minutes. Both marks rank second among Big 12 schools.
- Fresh legs have helped OSU maintain the Big 12's fastest pace, with nearly one-in-five offensive possessions coming in transition, per Synergy.
Â
The Series with Colorado:
- This meeting No. 111 in the all-time series. OSU has a 62-48 lead.
- Last January in Stillwater, the Cowboys took the first meeting of CU's second Big 12 stint, 83-73, behind 15 points apiece from Bryce Thompson and Marchelus Avery.
- Free throws and putbacks were key for the Cowboys in last year's win. They made 31-of-42 foul shots and outscored the visitors 22-7 on second chances, helped by a 36-23 rebounding margin. Eleven of OSU's 13 offensive boards turned into points. Bangot Dak (15) and Sebastian Rancik (11) were high scorers for CU, which made 22-of-25 free throws and tallied 12 steals.
- The Cowboys are 17-32 in Boulder (2-6 in Big 12 play, 11-14 in the CU Events Center).
- OSU has won six of the nine overtime games in the series, the longest of which went four extra periods (Feb. 5, 1983 in Boulder, OSU 96-91).
- In 1934, OSU hired Gallagher-Iba Arena's half namesake Henry Iba from Colorado, and he went on to coach his final 36 seasons in Stillwater.
- The series between the schools began 14 years later (in 1948) when OSU (then Oklahoma A&M) twice defeated the Buffaloes on their way to a 27-3 regular season mark.
- The teams played annual home-and-homes from 1958-59 until 1995-96 as members of the Big Eight Conference but moved to once-a-year in 1996 as part of the Big 12's divisional split.
- During CU's first Big 12 stint, OSU took eight of the 15 regular season matchups and another in the 2005 Big 12 quarterfinals.
- OSU is 2-1 against CU's 16th-year head coach Tad Boyle (1-0 under Lutz).
Â
Scouting the Buffaloes:
- Tad Boyle, the winningest coach in CU history (326 in parts of 16 seasons) has guided the Buffaloes to six NCAA tournaments. The program had been just twice in four decades prior to his arrival.
- CU (14-12, 4-9) has already exceeded last year's Big 12 win total with two weeks to play.
- The 2024-25 Buffaloes dropped their first 13 league games before finishing strong with wins in five of their next nine. The last two came during a surprise run to the Big 12 quarterfinals as the No. 16 seed.
- Four of last year's holdovers have become 2025-26 starters, including sophomore forward Sebastian Rancik (12.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg) and junior 7-footer Bangot Dak (10.5 ppg). Dak is the Buffs' top rebounder (6.5) and shot-blocker (35).
- To that mix, Boyle added a pair of impact backcourt performers in UC Riverside transfer Barrington Hargress (14.1 ppg, team-high 4.3 apg) and freshman Isaiah Johnson (16.5 ppg).
- Hargress has made half of his three-point attempts this season (40-of-80) and ranks 10th nationally in A:TO ratio (3.50).
- Johnson and Rancik have combined to sink 230 free throws in 26 games on 83% accuracy.
- The Buffaloes are averaging exactly 80 points per game with reserves contributing a league-high 28.8 points toward that total.
- CU ranks just inside the top-third nationally in adjusted tempo, yet averages just 10.0 turnover per game (second fewest in the Big 12).
- CU opponents average 78.5 points per game, helped by a three-point percentage (.376) that ranks 10th highest nationally.
Â
Matchup Mashup:
- A couple of former NAIA All-Americans will share the floor in OSU's Anthony Roy (2024 at Langston) and CU's Elinja Malone (2x at Grace College in Indiana).
- This is the fourth consecutive road game that OSU has played on Mountain Time -- Jan. 31 at Utah, Feb. 7 at Arizona and Feb. 10 at ASU.
- Next weekend, OSU shifts to Eastern Time with another two-game trek to Cincinnati and UCF.
Â
A Cowboy win would...
- Stop a four-game slide.
- Be their second true road win (2-5).
- Push their overall record to 17-10, matching their 2024-25 victory total (17-18) with two weeks still to play in the regular season.
- Be their sixth in the last seven meetings with CU, boosting their series lead to 63-48 (2-0 since CU's return to the Big 12).
- Make them 18-32 in Boulder (12-14 CU EC).
A Cowboy loss would...
- Be their fifth straight setback (OSU's longest streak since a six-game skid to close out the 2023-24 season).
- Drop their road record to 1-6.
- Even the new era Big 12 series at 1-1.
- Narrow their series lead over CU to 62-49.
- Make them 17-33 in Boulder (11-15 inside the CU Events Center).
- Make them 2-2 against Boyle.

Tuesday, 6 p.m. CT (CBSSN)

- Tuesday's game will swing the balance in the all-time series between OSU and WVU, which is currently knotted at 13-each (6-6 in Stillwater, 6-6 in Morgantown and 1-1 on neutral courts).
